Trekkers Information Management System permit – TIMS Nepal

Trekkers Information Management System permit TIMS Nepal is used to maintain the data of trekkers who visit different trekking regions of Nepal. Trekking Agencies Association of Nepal (TAAN) and Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) have occurrence to put into operation the TIMS from 1st January 2008 to daunting illegal trekking operation. All foreign trekkers going on trekking in different areas of the country are required to obtain a TIMS slip/certificate. Unlike trekking registration certificate (TRC), the TIMS slips will be made available to trekkers.

Trekking companies, who are members of TAAN, will be used as TIMS counters. TAAN central office in Kathmandu and its regional chapter in Pokhara will also issue the TIMS. If it is necessary, NTB will open its counter to issue the slips for Free Individual Tourists (Fits). There are two types of TIMS card: blue certificate for the organized trekkers and green card for free individual trekkers (FIT), trekkers can get TIMS from Base Camp Excursion Pvt.
